Nike’s 2019 “BETRUE” collection includes classic Nike Air Tailwind 79, as the silhouette celebrates the 50-year anniversary of the Stonewall riots and pays homage to the late LGBTQIA+ rights activist Gilbert Baker, who is also the designer of the iconic rainbow flag.
With Pride Month kicking off, this special-edition Air Tailwind 79 flaunts a deconstructed mesh upper with baby blue and baby pink accents across. Details such as a rainbow stripe is embroidered on the heel, while the sockliner graphic represents the eight colors and meanings from the original flag in 1978. Finally, cream suede overlays on the upper and a black rubber outsole tops off the design.
Retailing for $100, look for the Nike Air Tailwind 79 “Be True” at select Nike stores and online on June 8. Always keep it locked to KicksOnFire for the latest in sneaker news, release dates and where to purchase your favorite kicks.
