Ahead of launching digital and Blu-ray pre-orders for Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios has revealed an emotional scene that was cut from the final iteration of the blockbuster film.
WARNING: Spoilers below.
The deleted scene was supposed to come immediately after the Tony Stark wielded the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos. Meeting his end, Pepper Potts bids Tony farewell with a kiss panning MCU characters taking a knee to honor his courageous act.
According to Joe and Anthony Russo, “It’s a beautiful scene with moving performances, but we filmed it prior to Tony Stark’s funeral. The funeral scene ultimately became a more resonant and emotional reflection on Tony’s death for us.” The Internet was quick to point out past Gamora’s reaction to Tony’s death, creating memes to go with her dismissive response.
