Jay-Z has been facing significant backlash since revealing that he is interested in being part-owner of an NFL team. Many are upset that the mogul chose to move on without Kaepernick, and others who also kneeled like Eric Reid called the move by Jay-Z “kind of despicable.”
However, Jay-Z’s demeanor in-person with Roger Goodell during their talk reads much different. In a clip from the conversation, Roger Goodell can be seen saying he hopes that people don’t forget that a good football game will break out in the middle of the situation, which leads him to pat Jay-Z on the arm.
Jay-Z looked very uncomfortable and shifted his body to turn away from Goodell quickly, with Ty Ty looking very alert in the background. While Roc Nation’s potential “social justice and entertainment initiatives” are unclear at the moment, it is clear from that interaction that Jay-Z is trying to follow through on business decision despite the backlash. Watch below.
Just look at Jays body language and Ty Tys when Roger puts his hand on Jay. It's pretty easy to see they don't fuck with him. This was a great business decision and gives him a way to have influence in the organization and correct future injustices. #JayzNFL #JayZ pic.twitter.com/psLsgcJbHj
