Juice WRLD died last month at age 21 after reported seizure following landing at Chicago airport.
The late rapper’s official cause of death has been ruled an accidental overdose. the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office announced Wednesday. Juice WRLD, whose real name was Jarad A. Higgins, was just 21 years old when he died on 8 December 2019.
“Higgins died as a result of oxycodone and codeine toxicity,” the office wrote in a statement. “The manner of death is accident.”
The full toxicology report has not yet been completed but the Tribune reports that the complete autopsy report could be made public as early as Thursday.
Higgins released two albums during his brief career. “Goodbye & Good Riddance” was released in 2018 and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard charts. 2019’s “Death Race for Love” made it all the way to number 1.
