In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Somalia and her brand new single and video titled “Risk It All”.
Atlanta, Georgia-based R&B singer and songwriter, Somalia, originally hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, yet grew up in Lithonia, Georgia listening to a wide range of artists. Singing since the age of 10, she ultimately fell in love with the harmonious melodies of R&B music to which she’s used her voice to captivate audiences of all ages.
Voted “most likely to be famous” in her senior class, she displayed her talent on a variety of stages for plays, musicals, dance teams and talent shows every year at her school, while honing her gift with each new performance. Determined to focus on her passion for music, she went on to study music and Comparative Women Studies at Spelman College. Upon graduating from college, she packed out her self-produced debut concert titled The Sweet Freedom Concert.
Since then, she’s graced even more stages, performing at over 180 shows, festivals, theaters, and auditoriums for more than 3,000 people. Inspired by artists like Brandy, Tweet, Missy Elliott, and Jill Scott, Somalia’s sound blends R&B, Neosoul, Jazz, and Hip-hop to provide fresh music for R&B and live music lovers.
Following her first released project Journey (2018), which is available on all streaming platforms, her newest EP Never Enough Time – featuring “Risk It All” – dropped in October of 2020.
