In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Chasey The Illest and his brand new single titled “Save Me”.
“Save Me” is one of the most heart-wrenching tracks on Chasey the Illest’s breakout mixtape, Nightmare Park. “Save Me” is a tragedy experienced every day by people living in America’s poor and mostly black city neighborhoods. A tragedy that is invisible to the comfortable, the well-off or the middle class. If you don’t see it that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. People hurt the same hurt whether they are rich or poor, white or black, young or old. “Save Me” should be watched and contemplated.
“The video tells the story of a specific situation: a kid chasing his dreams, minding his own business, and then in an instant, it’s all taken away from him. Maybe it’s because of someone he knew, or something he did that people didn’t like, or maybe it was just senseless for no reason at all. Regardless, the tragedy of the loss is real for both the victim and for the people that loved him. I wanted to represent that pain in a way that was honest and raw.” – Chasey The Illest
